YouTuber arrested over Karur stampede – News Today

Chennai police have arrested well-known YouTuber Felix Gerald in connection with the Karur stampede case. The arrest was made by the Cybercrime Wing for sharing videos related to the incident that killed 41 people during a political rally.

The tragic stampede took place at a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) event organized by actor-politician Vijay in Karur. Crowds surged when he arrived at the venue, leading to chaos and several deaths. The incident has sparked widespread anger and raised questions about poor crowd management.

Police said Gerald’s videos might have spread misleading information and caused confusion. He is now under investigation for his role in sharing unverified content. Authorities have already arrested three others, including members of TVK and BJP, for spreading rumors on social media.

The DMK government has urged people not to circulate false information and promised that the inquiry commission will find the real causes of the stampede. Meanwhile, opposition leaders are demanding a CBI probe, calling the state’s actions an attempt to hide its failures.
