US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met in the Oval Office on Monday, where discussions of the war were briefly interrupted by a lighter exchange over clothing, Reuters reported.
Brian Glenn, a reporter from Real America’s Voice, told Zelenskyy, “You look fabulous in that suit. You look good” during a recent meeting in the Oval Office. This was a stark contrast to their previous interaction where Glenn had asked Zelenskyy, “Do, you even own a suit?” during a previous visit to the White House.
Zelenskyy, dressed in a dark suit rather than his usual military sweatshirt, replied to Glenn: “You’re in the same suit. I changed, you have not.” The reporter apologised.
Zelenskyy’s attire was agreed upon in advance with US and European officials, after Trump had been displeased during Zelenskyy’s February visit when he wore his military uniform. At that meeting, Trump remarked that Zelenskyy had “gotten all dressed up.”
While Monday’s talks focused on the conflict with Russia, the exchange showed a shift in tone between the two leaders compared with earlier meetings.
