UAV training centres in govt polytechnic colleges – News Today

The Tamil Nadu Higher Education Department plans to establish exclusive Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) training centres in government polytechnic colleges across the state to meet the growing demand for drone technology in various industries.

Currently, the 54 government polytechnic colleges in Tamil Nadu do not have proper UAV training facilities. A senior official from the Higher Education Department said that the centres will provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills to operate drones safely and explore innovative applications in aerial technology.

Initially, five polytechnic colleges will be selected for the pilot phase. Each training centre is expected to be developed at a cost of Rs 50 lakh, with a total allocation of Rs 2.5 crore by the state government.

The centres will feature innovation hubs where diploma students can work on drone-related research projects, gaining both theoretical understanding and hands-on experience. Experts will train students on official drone regulations, ethical considerations, manoeuvring, precise control, and aerial photography.

The initiative aims to empower students with cutting-edge skills, encourage innovation, and contribute to the advancement of drone technology in India.
