Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay’s party is expected to reschedule its second state-level conference, originally planned for August 25 in Madurai, following a request from the police citing security concerns.
According to a report in Daily Thanthi, the police have urged the party to consider alternate dates due to Vinayaga Chaturthi celebrations around the same time, which may pose logistical and crowd management challenges.
TVK general secretary N. Anand had earlier submitted a formal petition to the Madurai Superintendent of Police, seeking permission to hold the event on August 25. However, in their reply, the police advised that the party consider organising the gathering between August 18 and 22 instead.
In response, TVK has reportedly submitted a revised petition suggesting a new date within the time frame recommended by the authorities. The party is still expected to hold the event later this month, with preparations underway to finalise the venue and updated schedule.
This upcoming state conference is seen as a crucial political move for TVK as it builds momentum ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with actor Vijay recently announcing his active political entry and the party’s intention to contest.
