TNSTC to run special buses for festival rush – News Today


Officials said heavy traffic is expected due to consecutive holidays: Muharram on September 4, Milad-un-Nabi on September 5, and the weekend on September 6 and 7.

From Chennai’s Koyambedu bus terminus, 360 extra buses will run on September 3 to cities including Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tirupur. The number will rise to 710 on September 4 and 405 on September 5. On September 7, 875 buses will return from various districts to Chennai.

Special services are also planned:

From Koyambedu: 80 buses on September 3, and 105 buses on September 4 and 5 to Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru.

From Madhavaram: 25 buses on September 3 and 4.

From Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode, and Coimbatore: 350 buses to various places.

 or the TNSTC mobile app. Extra staff will help manage crowds at bus stands. So far, 17,632 tickets are booked for September 3, 23,032 for September 4, and over 20,000 for September 7.
