Actor Shoaib Ibrahim has responded to criticism surrounding his social media post after the recent Pahalgam terror attack. Ibrahim, who was in Kashmir with wife Dipika Kakar and their son Ruhaan, clarified that his mention of an upcoming vlog was misunderstood and not an attempt to promote content amid a tragedy.

In a YouTube video, Ibrahim explained that the attack occurred while they were mid-flight from Srinagar to Delhi on April 22. “We had no knowledge about it. When we landed and switched our phones on, we were flooded with messages enquiring about our safety,” he said. He added that initial reports suggested only minor injuries and, wanting to quickly reassure well-wishers, he posted a story mentioning they were safe — along with a note about a vlog — without realizing the situation’s gravity.

“Maine ek story daal di that we are fine and we will update you,” he said, addressing how some media portals and YouTube channels amplified the issue. “I had no intention of promoting my vlog. At that time, I didn’t have complete information,” he explained, saying he too felt awful as the full extent of the attack became clearer on social media.

The Sasural Simar Ka actor also shared that he and his family received hate messages and abusive comments, questioning why he and Dipika were targeted so harshly.

Shoaib and Dipika had earlier posted an update, confirming they had already left Kashmir safely before the attack. “We all are safe, we left Kashmir this morning, and we reached Delhi safely. Thank you for all the concern.. New vlog coming soon,” Ibrahim wrote.

The couple had been on a family vacation in Pahalgam before the incident.
