‘Sheesh Mahal’ is like ‘white elephant’: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta slams Arvind Kejriwal over bungalow | Delhi News

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Monday the former official residence of Arvind Kejriwal, when he was the CM, is like a “white elephant”, and that the government is yet to decide about its fate.

While speaking at an event, Aadhar Infra Confluence 2025, organised by Panchjanya, Gupta said the Delhi Government will ensure that the money “wasted” by Kejriwal on the house is returned to the public exchequer.

Kejriwal, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief, lived in Bungalow Number 6, Flagstaff Road, Civil Lines. During the Lok Sabha and Delhi Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) branded it as “Sheesh Mahal”, and flagged the money spent on the renovation of the house widely during the poll campaigning.

After Kejriwal resigned from the post of Delhi chief minister, the house was allocated to former CM Atishi, but she did not move into the house.

Intensifying her attack on the AAP national convenor, Gupta also accused Kejriwal of “wasting” the hard-earned money of the public to construct the house for his personal use.

Gupta said she will not live in the bungalow, which was 1,397 square metres in area, and was increased to 1,908 sq m during the renovation.

The Vigilance Department initiated a probe in 2024 into the alleged irregularities and over expenditure. The Central Bureau of Investigation also initiated an inquiry, and a probe is underway.
