The Supreme Court has granted interim protection from arrest to MLA M. Jagan Moorthy in connection with a kidnapping case. The court issued a temporary stay on his arrest after hearing his plea challenging the Madras High Court’s earlier refusal to grant anticipatory bail.
The case involves the alleged abduction of a boy related to a family dispute following an inter-caste marriage. It is claimed that the boy was taken from his mother’s house and later released near Perambakkam. The FIR has been registered at the Thiruvalangadu police station.
Under the Supreme Court’s order, if the police proceed with the arrest, Jagan Moorthy must be released on a personal bond of ₹25,000. The court also directed him not to influence witnesses or interfere with the investigation. Further hearings are expected as the case progresses.
