Sarina Wiegman has defended the Royal Family after some England fans were left unhappy at their decision to send a good luck message without a picture of young star Michelle Agyemang ahead of tonight’s Euro 2025 final against Spain.
The Lionesses will be hoping to get revenge on their opponents, who previously beat them in the final of the Women’s World Cup two years ago.
The Royal Family sent a good luck message ahead of the fixture in Basel tonight that included several photos of players.
One star absent was Agyemang, however, who has played a key role in the Lionesses’ surge to the final by scoring two goals in three appearances.

She came to the rescue against Sweden in the quarter-finals, while her dramatic late leveller against Italy forced extra-time on Tuesday.
Several social media users criticised the Royal Family for leaving Agyemang out. However, while Wiegman admits it is ‘unfortunate’ the 19-year-old isn’t included, she doesn’t believe it’s a big issue.
“I think that would never, ever be intentional,” said the Dutchwoman.
“I think the message from the Royal Family is that they really, really support us, and we really appreciate that. It’s unfortunate that (Agyemang) is not on the picture, but there’s all good intentions.”

The Royal Family’s message of support said: “Your journey to this stage has been nothing short of remarkable, showcasing the skill, determination (and test of nerve!) for which your team is so rightly celebrated.
Knowing the Lionesses’ fighting spirit, I suspect we are in for another thrilling encounter on Sunday.
“Your achievements continue to inspire countless girls and women across the nation, proving once again that with dedication and teamwork, anything is possible.
“Good luck, England. May you roar to victory once more.”

Prince William was criticised when he missed the final of the Women’s World Cup two years ago.
The Prince of Wales will attend the big showdown this evening, however, to cheer on the Lionesses.
While England haven’t been at their brilliant, blistering best so far this summer Wiegman is optimistic they’ve got the confidence to beat Spain.
“You want to do well. You don’t want a nerve-wracking game but it shows what the competition is,” she said.
“The women’s game is improving so much and every game is a hard game.
“I’m really glad we made it through. When you are in some situations, you hope you can turn it around.
“The most important thing is that the players think we can win and change a game and that’s what we’ve shown.”
On Spain, and the challenge they pose, she added: “We’ve played each other a lot over the last couple of years because of the Nation’s League.
