Queen Mary’s daughter follows her example during surprise appearance

Denmark’s Princess Isabella appeared to draw inspiration from her mother, Queen Mary, as she made a surprise appearance.

The 18-year-old Princess appeared alongside her younger brother Prince Vincent, 14 with their parents, King Frederik and Queen Mary, as the Danish royal family took up residence at their traditional summer retreat.

The royal party made their way to Grasten Palace in southern Jutland’s countryside, marking their return from overseas travels.

Isabella and Vincent, two of the monarch’s four children, delighted crowds as they made an unexpected appearance with their parents on the walk to the summer estate.

Princess Isabella borrowed a pair of her mother’s shoes during her surprise appearance

Isabella stepped out wearing a floral print wrap dress by Diane von Furstenberg, but her shoes quickly drew attention from eagle-eyed royal watchers.

The Princess accessorised her outfit with a pair of pair of £820 Chanel lambskin ballet flats in beige with a black toe cap.

Isabella was either taking influence from her mother – or may have raided Queen Mary’s wardrobe itself.

Denmark’s queen had worn the exact same pair of Chanel flats while on a visit to Norway in 2024.

Isabella drawing from her mother’s wardrobe is not a new phenomenon.

For her 18th birthday celebrations, the Princess wore a pair of her mother’s diamond fringe earrings.

At a previous birthday celebration at Aarhus Town Hall, Isabella wore a Soeren Le Schmidt sky blue trouser suit with a white wrapover blouse from The Fold which had been plucked Mary’s wardrobe.

The princess, who begins her final year at Oregard Gymnasium next month, watched on as King Frederik delivered an address and joined her family as they proceeded through packed streets.

During his address, King Frederik revealed that the couple’s eldest son, 19-year-old Crown Prince Christian, would arrive at Grasten Palaceat later.

Princess Josephine, Vincent’s twin sister, will also subsequently join the family.

During the procession, Queen Mary received numerous floral tributes from well-wishers, appearing sophisticated in a patterned midi-length frock paired with a short jacket and beige heeled sandals.

The teenage royals also engaged warmly with the assembled residents throughout the proceedings.

Prince Vincent’s particularly drew attention, shooting up in height since his last public outing at a racing event.

He wore smart grey outerwear with white shirt and light-coloured trousers.

The royal procession covered approximately 500 metres from the civic centre to their destination, with the family pausing frequently to acknowledge supporters displaying Danish flags.

King Frederik and Queen Mary had not been seen publicly since early July, with Queen Margrethe and Crown Prince Christian stepping in as regents.

The King’s absence suggested the monarch was taking time off from official duties.
