
At least four people were killed and three remain missing after a pickup truck carrying 25 pilgrims fell into a canal at Jagera Bridge, under Malaud police station in Khanna, Punjab, late Sunday night.
Khanna SSP Jyoti Yadav said the overloaded vehicle, returning from Naina Devi Temple in Himachal Pradesh, lost control and toppled into the canal.
“Of the 25 passengers, including the driver, 22 have been rescued. Four, including two children and a woman, were confirmed dead. Three others remain missing, with rescue operations ongoing. The rescued are receiving first aid at nearby hospitals,” Yadav stated.
The identities of the deceased are still being verified.
