Prince William reveals his son’s conflicted feelings

Prince William has opened up about his seven-year-old son Prince Louis’ tricky decision over one of his family’s passions.

The Prince of Wales, along with his eldest boy Prince George, 11, are spirited followers of Birmingham based football club Aston Villa.

A touched William asked Erin what football teams she supports – to which the young girl responded she torn between two teams.

The comment prompted the Prince of Wales to reveal that Prince Louis is similarly pondering who to back.

“My youngest at the moment says he supports five different football teams,” William revealed.

Louis current indecision is in stark contrast to his dad and George, who were recently see passionately cheering on their beloved Aston Villa in their Champions League campaign.

The pair ultimately came away with heartbreak after the Villa were knocked out of the competition by French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

As well as being a fan, William also serves as patron of the English Football Association.

Last week, he presented Crystal Palace with the FA Cup trophy after their underdog triumph over Manchester City.

He adopted the role, inherited from his late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II, last summer after serving as FA president for 18 years.

At the event, William also spoke with Shaniah, 10, who had recently led a Youth Forum at Edinburgh City Council Chambers to share concerns about the block of flats where they lived.

Evidently impressed, William praised the young girl for her bravery in public speaking.

“Wow, it’s not easy standing up and speaking. It takes a lot of courage, well done,” he said.

The Prince of Wales was north of the border to highlight a new collaboration between The Royal Foundation and Street Soccer Scotland.

The partnership, announced by The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, aims to foster health and wellbeing, reduce isolation, and strengthen social connections for thousands of local people through football.

During his visit, William heard about plans to revitalise Leith Community Centre.

He heard how the new initiative will be used to help socially disadvantaged adults and young people in the Leith area.

It will enhance existing sports-based initiatives that use football to support people experiencing issues such as poor mental health, addiction, homelessness and isolation.

Street Soccer Scotland, which originated in Leith in 2009, has been delivering free football-themed training and personal development programmes for socially disadvantaged adults and young people across Scotland.
