The social media post included two photographs celebrating Charlton’s milestone birthday.

The second photograph captured the birthday celebrations, with Charlton wearing a crown and sash whilst surrounded by balloons and a birthday banner.

The Deirdre Knight Centre provides day care services and respite for carers in the community.
It supports older people who may be experiencing social isolation, physical or learning disabilities and mental health issues.
Prince William visited the centre in Forfar, Angus on February 6. During his visit, the Prince joined in games of curling and dominoes whilst chatting with members and staff.

The royal tradition of sending birthday wishes to centenarians dates back to 1917, when King George V began sending telegrams to those reaching their 100th birthday.
During Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, approximately 1.3 million cards were sent to mark birthdays and anniversaries across the UK and the Commonwealth.
King Charles has continued this meaningful tradition since his accession to the throne. The monarch sends special messages for milestone occasions, including 100th and 105th birthdays, and every birthday thereafter.
Similar messages are sent for 60th, 65th and 70th wedding anniversaries, and each year following. In addition to Prince William’s social media tribute, Charlton likely received a special card from King Charles himself.
According to UK Government guidelines, residents can receive personalised messages from the monarch for milestone birthdays.
These royal birthday cards feature a portrait of King Charles and Queen Camilla. They also include a short note and their signatures.
The King sent his first round of birthday cards shortly after Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022. This continues a cherished royal tradition that connects the monarchy with citizens reaching remarkable milestones.
