A delegation of Members of Parliament, and their relatives, were booked to fly on the ill-fated helicopter that crashed in Kedarnath, Uttarkhand, on June 15.
The helicopter was ferrying pilgrims from Kedarnath temple. It crashed near Guptkashi, killing all seven people on board, including the pilot and a two-year-old child.
Eeranna Kadadi, Rajya Sabha member from Belagavi, and his wife were among those scheduled to visit the holy place on June 15. He was part of a parliamentary delegation.
Members of the delegation were booked in the ill-fated helicopter.
However, some of the members could not come to the helipad on time, and they were told to go in the next trip. The helicopter left with other passengers.
The members boarded the next helicopter. The aircraft had taken off when they heard the news of the tragedy. The pilot landed the helicopter, and the members were informed that further trips were cancelled.
Mr. Kadadi said he thanked his family deity for saving his life and that of his wife Sumitra.
Srirang Barne, Satish Gautam, Omprakash Nimbalkar were the other members of Parliament who were part of the delegation, he said.
