A 39-year-old man died and another was injured after two cars collided with each other, resulting in one of them hitting a motorcycle and catching fire near the Sector 145 Metro station in Noida.
Police said the accident took place on the Noida-Greater Noida expressway when a Kia Carens, allegedly being driven rashly, hit a Honda City from the side. The impact caused the Kia to lose control and ram into a motorcycle ahead.
A police official said, “The Kia spun out of control and hit a motorcycle…. The car then veered off the road and plunged into a roadside drain. Within minutes, it caught fire.”
While the injured biker, Gaurav Singh (43), was admitted to hospital, pillion rider Vijay Bahadur Singh was declared dead on arrival, said police. A student pursuing BBA at a university in Greater Noida was allegedly driving the Kia, police said. “The driver was detained. He and his friend were going to college when the incident occurred,” they said.
