Top 10 Bloomberg Billionaires Index 2025: Oracle’s CTO, Larry Ellison, briefly surpassed Tesla CEO Elon Musk as the world’s richest person after a sharp rise in Oracle Corp.’s stock price significantly boosted his wealth.
Following Oracle’s quarterly earnings report, which exceeded analysts’ expectations and signalled strong growth potential, Ellison’s net worth surged by $89 billion, reaching $383.2 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
This one-day gain, a record high, placed Ellison ahead of Musk for much of the day until Musk regained the top spot by a $1 billion margin the following morning.
Earlier this year, Ellison’s wealth growth also propelled him from the fourth to the second-richest individual, overtaking Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg and Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, now ranked third and fourth, respectively.
Musk, who first became the world’s richest person in 2021, has seen his ranking fluctuate, briefly losing the title to Jeff Bezos and LVMH’s Bernard Arnault.
However, he reclaimed the top spot and has held it for the past 16 months, making history last year as the first individual to reach a $400 billion net worth.
