Princess Kate and Prince William were “protective” over Prince George during a recent royal engagement, a source has claimed.
The young royal joined the Prince and Princess of Wales during the commemorations for VE Day at Buckingham Palace in May.
Prince George met with D-Day veterans, including Alfred Littlefield, who told Prince William: “You should be very proud.”
An insider said regarding Prince George’s conduct during the royal engagement: “George was the star of the room.

Princess Kate and Prince William were “protective” over Prince George during a recent royal engagement, a source has claimed.
“He was engrossed in conversation with many of the veterans, who were delighted to speak to him as well.
“He was enjoying it, hearing about guns and submarines and tanks.”
The source added: “It was a safe, familiar place. William and Kate were clearly trying to give him a good experience.
“They both appeared protective, putting an arm around him from time to time, but they looked very proud of him by the end.”

Prince George is second in the Royal Family’s line of succession behind the Prince of Wales
Last week, Prince George celebrated his 12th birthday with his parents and siblings.
A new photograph of the future king was released by Kensington Palace to mark the occasion.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared the new photograph on social media, accompanied by the caption: “Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George!”
Prince George’s 12th birthday was particularly significant as a longstanding Royal Family rule looks set to come into place.

The future king may now be separated from Prince William when using certain forms of transport.
George is second in line to the throne while Prince William is first in the Royal Family’s line of succession.
There is a rule in place that limits which royals can travel together in the same plane, with William travelling on a different plane from Charles once he turned 12 in 1994.
Previously, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte could all travel together, but that may change now that George has turned 12.
The rule is in place to help secure the heirs to the throne and it can be broken with the monarch’s permission, but it is discouraged since, in the event of a crash, the future of the monarchy would be immediately unstable.
