Princess Kate and Prince William are set to join King Charles and Queen Camilla for the 80th anniversary celebrations of VE Day, marking their return to public royal duties after a private Easter holiday.

This significant appearance comes after Kate and William opted to spend Easter Sunday privately in Norfolk with their children and the Middleton family.

The Waleses were joined at Sandringham by their three children and Kate’s parents, Carole and Michael Middleton, during the Easter break.

Kate, 43, and William, 42, will attend multiple ceremonies between May 5 and 8, standing alongside the King and Queen.

On May 5, the Prince and Princess of Wales will join a gathering of senior royals at the Queen Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace.

The royal party will include the King and Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and Sir Tim Laurence, and the Duke of Kent.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will also attend alongside veterans from the Royal British Legion.

Together they will observe more than 1,300 members of the Armed Forces processing down The Mall from Whitehall.

The procession will begin when Big Ben strikes noon, accompanied by readings from Churchill’s famous VE Day speech.

Following the parade, the Royal Family will return to Buckingham Palace for a balcony appearance and flypast.

It is hoped, though not yet confirmed, that Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis may join their parents and other royals on the Palace balcony.

Later on May 5, the King and Queen will host a special tea party for around 50 veterans and members of the Second World War generation.

Kate and William will join Their Majesties at this reception honouring those who served and contributed to the war effort.

The event will welcome British and Commonwealth Armed Forces personnel, Wrens, members of the Special Operations Executive and those who supported the war effort on the home front.

The organised events are particularly poignant as there are so few servicemen and women from that era still living.
