Doha, Sept 10 Israeli forces attempted to assassinate senior Hamas officials in Qatar’s capital, Doha, Israeli authorities confirmed. The operation was carried out with the help of Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic security agency.The strike targeted Hamas leaders who were reportedly meeting to discuss a US peace proposal to end the fighting.
According to Hamas, at least five people were killed in the attack. Among them were three bodyguards of Hamas leaders.
Hamas political bureau member Suhail al-Hindi said the dead also included Hammam al-Hayya, son of Khalil al-Hayya, and his office manager Jihad Labad.
