A 30-year-old man from Mahabubnagar district of Telangana, Mohammed Nizamuddin, was allegedly shot dead by police in Santa Clara, California, earlier this month, as per reports by PTI citing his family. His father, Mohammed Hasnuddin, said on Thursday that the incident reportedly occurred on September 3 after a “scuffle” with his roommate.
The exact circumstances remain unclear.
Hasnuddin said he was informed of his son’s death by a friend and received confirmation only on Thursday morning. In a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, he requested assistance in bringing his son’s mortal remains back home.
“Today morning I came to know he (Nizamuddin) was shot dead by Santa Clara Police and his mortal remains are in some hospital in Santa Clara, California. I do not know the actual reasons why police shot him dead,” he wrote, according to PTI.
