In separate incidents, two men arrested in Delhi for killing their fathers | Delhi News

In two separate cases of patricide reported in Delhi within 24 hours since Friday evening, two men were arrested for allegedly murdering their fathers following heated arguments.

In the first incident, which occurred around 7.30 pm on Friday in North Delhi’s Timarpur, Head Constable Nitin, while on patrol, heard the sound of a gunshot and rushed to the scene. He found a man lying unconscious on the footpath and several people attempting to wrest a firearm from a younger man.

The deceased was identified as 60-year-old Surender, a sub-inspector from the Central Industrial Security Force who had retired around six months ago. His son, Deepak (26), was apprehended from the spot with a 12-bore gun, said police.

“Surender wanted to shift to his native place in Uttarakhand with his family after retirement. He had loaded the household articles in a tempo and was ready to leave… Deepak also wanted to go in the tempo. But there was space for only one passenger in the vehicle. They had an intense argument over who would get to go, and Deepak, who was carrying his father’s 12-bore gun, fired upon his father…,” said DCP (North) Raja Banthia.

The bullet struck Surender on the left cheek and caused multiple splinter injuries to his face, said police. The family rushed Surender to Hindu Rao Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Deepak was arrested and charged under Section 103(1) (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and also under the Arms Act. The weapon used in the crime, along with 11 live cartridges, was seized from Deepak, said police.

In a separate case reported in Central Delhi’s Paharganj the same day, a 45-year-old man, Vinod, was assaulted by his son Bhanu Pratap near Ambedkar Bhawan, said police.
