How police caught teen wanted for firing at YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s house | Delhi News

The Faridabad police on Friday afternoon shared details of the first suspect apprehended in connection with the Sunday shooting outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s Gurgaon residence.

The suspect, Ishant Gandhi, 19, was caught after an operation (and subsequent ‘encounter’) conducted jointly by the Crime Branch teams of Sector 30 and Faridabad Central on Friday morning.

“Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch teams received information about Ishant Gandhi’s presence in Faridpur village. The teams set up a checkpoint on Faridpur-Neemka Road in Sector 77. When signalled to stop, the suspect, riding a motorcycle without a number plate, attempted to flee, lost control, and crashed.

“He then tried to escape on foot and fired four shots at the police with an illegal pistol. In retaliatory firing, the police shot Ishant in the right leg, after which he was overpowered,” a police sportsperson said.

The suspect is a resident of Jawahar Colony in Faridabad and is currently being treated in Badshah Khan Civil Hospital.

“An illegal country-made pistol was seized from his possession. A case has been registered (against him) at the BPTP police station,” the spokesperson added.

Inspector Arvind Kumar, Station House Officer, BPTP police station, told The Indian Express that they will formally take him into custody after treatment is over.

“We will then produce him in court, and based on its directions thereafter for the production warrant, the Gurgaon police shall take over,” Kumar said.

Three masked men fired more than two dozen shots outside the house of Yadav at Gurgaon’s Sector 57 early Sunday, when he was not at home.

Even as the bullets hit the first floor and the stilt area of the three-storey building, no one was injured in the firing. Yadav’s family lives on the second floor.

The Himanshu Bhau gang had claimed responsibility for the attack hours after the incident. In a post on Instagram, the gang said Elvish Yadav was targeted as he promoted betting platforms.
