An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Gurgaon Police died by suicide on Thursday evening at his village in Haryana’s Rewari district.
Police said ASI Krishan Yadav had gone to Zainabad village for the festive season and was found hanging, with a suicide note left near him.
Police said the note had named and blamed his wife and in-laws, citing alleged domestic troubles and harassment by them. Police on Friday lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against the three for abetment to suicide.
The couple had two children.
Teams from the Dahina police outpost, including in-charge Rajnish Kumar, and the Khol police station reached the spot, took the body down, and sent it to the Civil Hospital for an autopsy.
After the postmortem was done Friday, the body was handed over to the family. The investigation is underway.
Station House Officer of Khol Police Station, Inspector Gajraj Singh, told The Indian Express on Saturday that the last rites were conducted yesterday.
“No one has been arrested yet. We will now call the accused, the wife and her parents, to record their statements over the next few days, and take further action accordingly. The FIR invokes charges of abetment to suicide and criminal acts by multiple accused done with common intention.”

Krishan’s wife works as a Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in Delhi.
Police sources said the FIR was filed based on a complaint lodged by Krishan’s father. It stated that the couple had been living separately for two years, with the wife raising their teenage kids in Delhi since then.
The complaint refers to the note, which alleged threats by the wife to file false police cases against the husband and his family. These angles will be probed as part of the investigation, sources added.
