Gujarat Confidential: Cow ‘Tourism’ | Ahmedabad News

A cowshed in Bakrol run by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) Cattle Nuisance Control Department (CNCD), wtih over 560 stray cattle at present, claims to be a “destination for cow tourism” following its gau seva initiatives. Recently, officials stated that 560 medicinal plants of 26 varities have been planted for the cows that they said will be useful in treating the animals on the cowshed campus. They also said that the cowshed, which was earlier called dhorwada (cattle ranch), is now known as ‘karuna mandir’. After the AMC implemented a policy on cattle ownership in September 2023, the stray cattle, impounded from the city over the last one-and-a-half years, remained at the cowshed as their owners failed to claim them.
