NEW DELHI: In a major reshuffle of Gujarat’s cabinet, Majura MLA Harsh Sanghavi was sworn in as deputy chief minister on Friday, alongside 25 other ministers, at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. The expansion brings the total cabinet strength to 26, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.Harsh Sanghavi, a three-time legislator from Majura, previously served as Minister of State for Home in the last cabinet.Gujarat governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath to the new inductees. The move introduces several fresh faces into the government, just three years into its term and two years ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.

Several ministers retained their portfolios. “Visnagar MLA Rushikesh Patel, who held the Health, Education, and Law portfolios, Kamrej MLA Praful Pansheriya, MoS Parliamentary Affairs, and Jasdan MLA Kunvarji Bavaliya, who was the Water Resources Minister, were reappointed to the Council of Ministers,” the BJP said.See full listReappointed Ministers

Other reappointed ministers include Pardi MLA Kanubhai Desai, who previously handled Finance, Energy and Petrochemicals, and Bhavnagar Rural MLA Parshottam Solanki, MoS Fisheries. New entrants to the cabinet include Gandevi MLA Naresh Patel, Asarwa MLA and ex-Deputy Mayor of Ahmedabad Darshna Vaghela, Kodinar MLA and former Gujarat BJP SC Morcha chief Pradyuman Vaja, Morbi MLA Kantilal Amrutiya, and Vadodara City MLA Manisha Vakil. Porbandar MLA Arjun Mondhwadia, who joined BJP from Congress last year, has also been inducted.Additional members joining the cabinet are former Gujarat BJP chief and Bhavnagar MLA Jitu Vaghani, Amreli MLA Kaushik Vekariya, Banaskantha MLA Swarupji Thakor, Anjar MLA Trikam Chhanga, Nizar MLA Jayram Gamit, Jamnagar North MLA Rivaba Jadeja, Bhilloda MLA PC Baranda, Dahod MLA Ramesh Katara, Ankleshwar MLA Ishwarsinh Patel, Deesa MLA Pravin Mali, Borsad MLA Ramanbhai Solanki, Petlad MLA Kamlesh Patel, and Mahudha MLA Sanjay Singh Mahida. Earlier on Thursday, all 16 ministers, except CM Bhupendra Patel, resigned. Gujarat’s 182-member assembly allows a maximum of 27 ministers, or 15% of its strength. Previously, the Council of Ministers had 17 members, including eight cabinet ministers and eight ministers of state.
