Chennai, July 24:
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tiruchi during the PM’s two-day visit to Tamil Nadu on July 26 and 27. This would mark their first formal interaction since the AIADMK renewed its alliance with the BJP in preparation for the 2026 Assembly elections.
PM Modi is scheduled to arrive in Tamil Nadu on the evening of July 26 after concluding an official visit to the Maldives. He will land at the Tuticorin airport around 7.50 p.m., inaugurate the expanded Tuticorin airport, and then travel to Tiruchi for an overnight stay.
The following day, July 27, the Prime Minister will participate in the Aadi Thiruvathirai celebrations at the historic Gangaikonda Cholapuram temple in Ariyalur district. He is scheduled to return to New Delhi from Tiruchi at 2.25 p.m.
Sources indicate that Edappadi Palaniswami may meet Modi either late on July 26 or in the morning of July 27 in Tiruchi. While the AIADMK has not officially confirmed the meeting, the party has rescheduled EPS’s planned campaign events in Karaikudi, Tirupattur, and Sivaganga from July 26 to July 29. Though no reason was cited, political observers view this as an indication of the upcoming meeting.
