Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat box office collection Day 1: Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, released in theatres on Tuesday and clashed against Thamma, the biggest release of the season. The Milap Zaveri directorial has been receiving a lot of criticism in the reviews but it looks like despite the not-so-favourable reviews, and lesser screens, in comparison to Thamma, the film has managed to score a decent opening figure. On its first day in the theaters, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat earned Rs 9 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film had around 2400 shows, as opposed to Thamma, which had over 5700 shows on Tuesday. The Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna starrer made Rs 24 crore on its opening day. Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat observed around 40 percent occupancy on its opening day. In the Delhi-NCR region the film had over 570 shows, with around 45 percent occupancy, and in Mumbai, the film had around 370 shows, with around 37 percent occupancy. Many parts of the country celebrated Diwali on Tuesday, so it is yet to be seen if Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat will pick up at the box office later this week.
The film is facing major competition against Thamma and the makers had been struggling to get enough screens for their film against Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Horror Comedy Universe film. While they have scored significantly lesser shows, their opening figures are almost at par with Sunny Deol’s Jaat, which made Rs 9.5 crore on opening day, and eventually went on to make Rs 88 crore at the domestic box office.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has also done better than Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2, which made Rs 7.75 crore on opening day, and was presented as a success by Dharma Productions. Maddock’s Param Sundari, which was released a couple of months ago, earned Rs 7.25 crore on opening day.
Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat has not been promoted as much as Thamma, but, the lead star Harshvardhan Rane’s previous success might be aiding the film in drawing the audience. Earlier this year, the re-release of his older film Sanam Teri Kasam shocked the film industry, and it appears that Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is reaping the benefits of the same.
