The Delhi Congress on Wednesday took out a march, ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’, in North East Delhi’s Mustafabad, accusing the BJP of conspiring with the Election Commission to “steal votes” in the capital.
The march, which had the slogan ‘Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod’, was led by Delhi Congress president Devender Yadav. It began at Sanjay Chowk in Mustafabad and was joined by Congress workers, former MLAs, and district presidents.
Addressing the gathering, Yadav said, “By holding the Voter Adhikar Yatra, the Congress has taken the BJP’s conspiracy of vote theft to the people of Delhi. The people are angry and determined to end this malpractice”.
He linked the campaign to the nationwide movement launched by Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi. “Just as the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar exposed the opaque and illegal electoral rolls, the Delhi yatra is meant to alert citizens against the BJP’s attempts to subvert democracy,” Yadav said.
Yadav also attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging it had cheated Delhi for 11 years with corruption and false promises. He further said that it is now the BJP which is “cheating people with hollow promises.”
