To promote communal harmony and unity in diversity, former Union minister and senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Eid al-Adha (Bakrid) served his guests a classic Holi sweet, gujiya. It was served with aam-panna, prepared with mangoes grown in Naqvi’s orchard in Rampur. With the same idea of harmony, Naqvi on Holi this year had offered his guests aloo chaat and kimami sewai, a popular dessert relished in the holy month of Ramzan.

Behind Closed Doors

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, a lawyer by profession, has been vocal about judicial reforms ever since he assumed office in 2022. In recent months, he has also called for greater accountability and publicly batted for transparency. The Vice President is learnt to have held a series of closed-door meetings with members of the legal fraternity. While the precise agenda remains under wraps, he is said to have met members of the Bar in Chandigarh, Shimla and Bengaluru, and held private discussions with former Chief Justices T S Thakur and M N Venkatachaliah, respectively.

Norway Solidarity

DURING HIS visit to France for the UN Ocean Conference, Union Minister Jitendra Singh held several meetings with Norwegian delegates on-board a naval vessel at Monaco. He met the Crown Prince of Norway HE Haakon and their Minister of International Development Åsmund Grøver Aukrust. While topics such as marine planning and Arctic research were discussed, the Norwegian minister expressed the country’s solidarity with India following the terror attack on tourists in J&K’s Pahalgam. Singh was informed that the Norwegian people support India and want PM Narendra Modi to visit their country. Both ministers were seen giving thumbs up to the camera.
