Delhi Confidential: Care For Old Guard | Delhi Confidential News

One of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav’s closest lieutenants – party chief spokesperson Rajendra Choudhary (78) – was admitted to a government hospital in Lucknow for a minor stomach ailment earlier this week. When Akhilesh visited the hospital, he was of the view that Choudhary be admitted to a private hospital as the queues of visitors gave him little time to rest. On Wednesday morning, Choudhary was admitted to a private hospital where fewer visitors are allowed. Choudhary, who had also worked with party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, is among the few old guard still active in the SP.

Belated Warmth

Former Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora finally got his due send-off earlier this week, nearly one and half months after he retired from service. Arora had hung up his boots on July 31, but his official farewell kept delaying for one reason or the other. At the long-pending farewell, Arora shared the stage with two other retired IPS officers. Though belated, the top cop’s men ensured that their former chief’s exit was marked with the ceremonial warmth befitting the office.

Missing Location

The Agriculture Ministry has notified the establishment of the National Makhana Board in Bihar, which is being touted as a big announcement ahead of the Assembly polls. The notification has details like the board’s objectives and the appointment of its chairperson and members, but did not mention the location of its headquarters. Sources said locations such as Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Purnea were under consideration. It is understood that the Centre had left the decision to the state government, given the political significance of the issue ahead of the elections.
