A day after two women, including a police staffer who was part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security bandobast on Monday, were killed in a road accident, the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Ahmedabad City Police have arrested a man who was allegedly driving the truck that hit the victims.

The Crime Branch had been on the lookout for the truck and its driver since the hit-and-run incident on Monday evening in the Naroda area of Ahmedabad following the road show and public gathering of PM Modi at Khodaldham Maidan in Nikol.

The accused, Roopamsingh Thakur, and the truck that had run the two women over were found in Dehgam in Gandhinagar on Tuesday morning. The Crime Branch handed Thakur over to the ‘G’ Division Traffic Police.
