On the 7th death anniversary of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, a peaceful rally was organized by the DMK in Chennai, led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. The rally, which started at the Omandurar Government Estate, saw thousands of DMK members participate as they marched towards the Kalaignar memorial on Marina Beach.

The event, which took place on the morning of August 7, 2025, was also attended by senior party leaders including Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, DMK Parliamentary Party Leader Kanimozhi, and Treasurer T.R. Baalu, along with other ministers and MLAs. Before the procession began, Chief Minister Stalin and other dignitaries paid their respects by offering floral tributes to a portrait of Karunanidhi placed at the base of his statue on Anna Salai.

In the days leading up to the memorial, Chief Minister Stalin had penned a letter to the party’s cadre, urging them to uphold the late leader’s values. He emphasized Karunanidhi’s contributions to Tamil language and social justice, and called on party workers to conduct a door-to-door campaign to reinforce the DMK’s connection with the people. Stalin’s statements, which also criticized the opposition, underscored the DMK’s commitment to following Karunanidhi’s vision and securing the party’s future.
