The incident took place while she was travelling through Guarapuava, in the southern state of Paraná. Police said she began to show signs of distress during the journey and later died, despite efforts to revive her.
Local emergency responders were called after the woman had trouble breathing and showed signs of convulsions. Paramedics treated her on board the bus, but she suffered a cardiac arrest. Attempts to resuscitate her continued for 45 minutes, but she could not be saved.
Military Police later confirmed that 26 iPhones had been glued to her body. Forensic teams from the Scientific Police and Civil Police were sent to the scene. A sniffer dog found no trace of drugs, but bottles of alcohol were discovered in her luggage and were taken by authorities.
