Fans and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam cadre welcome actor and founder president of the party Vijay at Madurai airport on Thursday.

Fans of actor Vijay and cadres of his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, gathered in large numbers outside Madurai airport on Thursday to give a rousing welcome to him.
The actor landed here by a special flight from Chennai on his way to Kodaikanal for shooting for his movie Jananayakan. Though the arrival of the flight was scheduled only for Thursday evening, hundreds of his fans and party cadre had assembled on the airport premises since early in the morning.
Men and women, young and old were eager to have a glimpse of the actor. Madurai City Police cordoned off the fans outside the airport approach road to prevent commotion on the airport premises. However, many managed to break the cordon and rushed towards the van in which the actor came out.
Hailing the actor, the crowd raised slogans. Lot of youngsters showered flower petals on him and some of them hurled party shawls on him.
Accompanied by bouncers, the actor came out through the opening in the roof and waved at the fans that sent the crowd into frenzy. Some of them even sprayed milk on the vehicle.
After cruising through the crowd for over 100 metres, the actor’s convoy left for Kodaikanal.
However, the uncontrolled crowd gave anxious moments to air passengers and their relatives who were proceeding towards the airport and were coming out towards the city side as road traffic was blocked for more than an hour.
