
Several areas in Surat have been witnessing power cuts from 7 am to 12 pm since Monday owing to scheduled maintenance work, as announced by the Dakshin Gujarat Vij Company Limited (DGVCL). The maintenance work will go on till Saturday, with sources saying that this is part of pre-monsoon preparations being taken in the state.
The power outages will impact feeders under various subdivisions in Surat. According to a notice issued by the Surat Rural division office of the DGVCL, the subdivisions where the power outages will occur include Kapodara, Pasodara, Kosad, Puna, Simada and Laskana.
On Monday, the 11 KV Shubhlaxmi Industrial feeder from the 66 kV Kadodara sub-station will experience a power outage. On Tuesday, multiple areas, such as all 11 kV feeders under the 66 kV Vav sub-station in Kamrej Rural, and the 11 kV Khaleshwar AG feeder from the 66 kV Kamrej sub-station under the Kamrej-2 Urban sub-division was affected. Power was disrupted in several locations, including the 11 kV Maruti Industrial feeder, 11 kV Jay Bharat Industrial feeder, 11 kV Nagod AG feeder, and 11 kV Galateshwar JGY feeder on Wednesday.
On Thursday, affected feeders will include the 11 kV Bindal Industrial feeder in Kadodara-1, the 11 kV Dastan JGY feeder from the 66 kV Jolva sub-station under Kadodara-2, the 11 kV Bhavani JGY feeder from the 66 kV Kamrej sub-station in Kamrej Rural, and the 11 kV Delad AG feeder in Kamrej-2 Urban. Further outages will take place on Friday, affecting the 11 kV Morthana AG feeder and 11 kV Parab JGY feeder from the 66 kV Parab sub-station in Sevni, along with the 11 kV Jiyor AG feeder under Kamrej-2 Urban from the 66 kV Kamrej sub-station. Outages are scheduled for the 11 kV Nehrunagar Industrial feeder from the 66 kV Kamrej sub-station in Kamrej Rural, and all 11 kV feeders from the 66 kV Palsana sub-station, affecting the Palsana sub-division on Saturday.
Power outage will also be experienced in the industrial areas in Surat district, like Kadodara, which will affect multiple subdivisions, including Kadodara Industrial, Kamrej Rural, Kamrej 2, Kadodara 1, Sevni, Kadodara 2 and Palsana.
Sources said that due to such outages, many textile factories in Palsana, Kamrej, and Kadodara are expected to face financial loss as production will be hampered.
