What makes the situation more disturbing is the erosion of trust among communities and in institutions meant to protect them. People are living in constant fear, many displaced from their homes, while security measures appear inconsistent and reactive. The lack of timely justice, failure to rehabilitate victims, and absence of a political will to resolve long-standing tensions only worsen the crisis. Manipur cannot be left to burn while officials cite complexities as excuses.
It is time the central and state leadership come together to initiate an honest, inclusive, and transparent peace process. There must be accountability for the violence, protection for all communities, and a long-term roadmap for healing. India cannot afford to let Manipur remain a forgotten tragedy. The voices of its people must be heard — not just during elections, but when they cry for help.
