From three-tier security arrangements for entry of candidates into examination halls to recording attendance using biometric devices and ensuring CCTV surveillance, the State government has made elaborate arrangements for conducting the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (UG)-2025 to be held on Sunday (May 4, 2025).

Conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the test is for admission to undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS.

In all, 72,507 candidates have registered for the test in Telangana, and it will be conducted from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in 190 examination centres across the State.

Officials said candidates will be allowed into the centres starting 11 a.m., and no candidate will be allowed entry after 1.30 p.m. This is in view of the entry rules, which include extensive and compulsory frisking of candidates and scrutiny of their identification and admit cards.

A State-level review by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao about the arrangements on Friday and district-wise inspections and final check of the centres by District Collectors and Superintendents of Police on Saturday stressed about conducting the test in a smooth and transparent manner.

According to rules prescribed by NTA, candidates are only allowed to carry their admit card with photograph affixed, another photograph for affixing on the attendance sheet, valid original identity proof, and one postcard size colour photograph with white background for pasting on the proforma along with admit card.

Those wearing articles or objects of faith must report at the centre at least two hours before the last reporting time for proper frisking. It also has a dress code — no heavy clothes and long sleeves and no shoes.

In Hyderabad district, 26,609 candidates registered for the test, and it will be conducted in 62 examination centres. In Medchal-Malkajgiri district, 13 exam centres would see the attendance of 4,336 registered candidates.

Officials in various police jurisdictions in the State have already issued prohibitory orders under S.163 of BNSS (formerly IPC S.144) for Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., banning assembly of people in 200 metres and operation of photocopy centres and cyber cafes in 100 metres radius of the examination centres.
