IPL 2025: GT vs SRH, Match 51 – Stats Preview of Player Records and Approaching Milestones

Gujarat Titans (GT) will host Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Match 51 of Indian Premier League 2025, along with a mathematical opportunity to go to the top of the points table.

GT are still very much in contention for the playoffs, and it would probably take something extraordinary to eliminate them in the group stage. Something like their last game. Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler scored fifties against RR in Jaipur and led GT to a strong total. But they were blown out of the water by 14-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Suryavanshi broke all sorts of records during a blazing century that helped RR overhaul a target of 209 with more than four overs to spare.

SRH are currently in a situation where they will have to win all of their matches and still pray for other results to go their way. They were arguably on track after a rather comprehensive win over CSK in their last game. Mohammed Shami struck off the first ball of the match, and Ayush Mhatre led the recovery. Dewald Brevis also gave CSK momentum in the middle, but their batting simply collapsed against Harshal Patel and Pat Cummins. Jaydev Unadkat also did his part in the carnage.

On a tough Chennai track, SRH’s batsmen found it difficult to get going from ball one. Khaleel Ahmed and Noor Ahmad led CSK’s fightback with the ball, but Ishan Kishan at the top and Kamindu Mendis towards the finish held fort with just the right amount of support from the other batters.

This fixture is a repeat encounter as well. In the reverse fixture at Hyderabad, Mohammed Siraj wrecked SRH at the top on a surface with plenty for the bowlers. Siraj’s double strike slowed the hosts down. Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore then took up the mantle through the middle, and Siraj returned to strike again at the death. Pat Cummins got a high-speed cameo at the end to give the SRH total some respectability.

Despite an early wicket, Washington Sundar earned a promotion to No. 3 and took the game away from SRH in the powerplay itself. After his dismissal, Shubman Gill stayed through to the end with a fifty, while Sherfane Rutherford put in his trademark cameos during the chase.
