A bomb threat message via e-mail was received on Monday (April 28, 2025) morning which said RDX-based explosive device had been clandestinely planted at the Cochin international airport. The threat was received at 7:53 a.m. from the email id achimuthu_ahmed_shankar@outlook.com. The threat turned out to be hoax.

A threat assessment meeting was convened at 8.55 a. m. and the CISF ensured anti-sabotage checks of all terminals at the airport.

The city-side anti-sabotage checks were conducted by the Kerala Police. Airlines called for increased vigil for all flights.

The Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) has filed a complaint with the Kerala Police on the matter. It has also informed all the stakeholders concerned. The threat was non-specific, said a CIAL communication here.
