Prince William and Princess Kate are set to make an official visit to the Isle of Mull later this month, where they will be addressed by their Scottish titles.

The royal couple will be known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay during their time on the Scottish island.

This formal recognition of their Scottish titles comes as they visit to celebrate rural communities.

The change from their usual titles of Prince and Princess of Wales reflects royal protocol when the couple are in Scotland.

Their visit is expected to draw significant attention, not only for their official duties but also because it coincides with a personal milestone.

The timing of the trip adds special significance as the couple will be celebrating their 14th wedding anniversary around the same time.

William and Kate were married on April 29, 2011, with millions watching as Kate became the future Queen.

Their upcoming visit to Mull will therefore coincide with their 14th wedding anniversary celebrations.

William and Kate first met at the University of St Andrews in Scotland in 2001.

The trip north of the border seems a fitting choice for the couple, given their Scottish connection.

During their visit, the royal couple will “highlight the importance of protecting and championing the natural environment”.

Their first stop will be Tobermory, the town made famous as the setting for the BBC children’s programme Balamory.

The Prince has a special connection to the Isle of Mull, as it forms part of the lands once ruled by the Lord of the Isles, one of several Scottish titles he inherited when his father became King.

The couple will visit a community hall in Tobermory and tour the town’s producers’ market at the harbour.

There, they will announce their Royal Foundation’s partnership with two community spaces across Mull.

The project aims to support and develop these areas, ensuring residents can continue to meet and join activities.

William and Kate will sample local produce and meet some of Mull’s makers and creators during their visit to the harbour.

The royal couple will also visit a croft and a restaurant on the west coast of the island.

They will meet Hebridean sheep farmed on the 50-acre site and help select garden produce for the menu.

On their final day, William and Kate will join countryside rangers from the Mull and Iona Ranger Service at Ardura Community Forest.

They will meet a school group taking part in outdoor learning and the Ardura Acorns, an early years outdoor learning play group.
