‘Elevation of Calicut Diocese was an Easter gift by Pope’

Calicut Archdiocese Archbishop Varghese Chakkalakkal has condoled the death of Pope Francis.

In a release on Monday, he said the elevation of the Calicut Diocese to an Archdiocese and his elevation as an Archbishop was an Easter gift by the late Pope in his final days. The priests and laymen in Calicut Archdiocese would offer divine sacrifice for him these days and pray for his soul. The Archbishop said that the world had lost a spiritual leader who never gave up hope for the humankind.
