The 21-year-old royal debuted the Mellerio Ruby Parure Tiara at a state banquet on Tuesday night, which was made for Queen Emma by French jewellers, Mellerio dits Meller, in 1888.
She joined her parents, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima, as they hosted the Sultan of Oman at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam.
The Dutch royal palace shared a previously unseen photograph of Catharina-Amalia trying on the diamond and ruby tiara at age nine in her mother’s dressing room.

This charming image was released to mark the royal’s 18th birthday in 2021, alongside an authorised biography about her life.
In the biography, Princess Amalia revealed her passion for royal headpieces.
She told author Claudia de Breij: “I love tiaras. Show me a tiara, and I’ll know where it came from. I can recognise all the tiaras of Europe.”
“I used to put them on from my mother. Then there would be one on her make-up table and I would have it directly on my head.”

For the state banquet, the Princess opted for a lavender gown from British brand Safiyaa London.
The caped style is becoming her signature look and is the same design worn by the Duchess of Sussex during her 2018 Fiji tour, but in blue.
Catharina-Amalia, whose blonde hair was styled in loose waves, complemented the tiara with matching ruby earrings, a brooch and a bracelet from the same collection.
This is not the first time the princess has worn a royal tiara, as the royal made her tiara debut in the Dutch Star Button design in 2022.

Since then, Catharina-Amalia, who is currently studying for a degree in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics at the University of Amsterdam, has been seen wearing the Ruby Peacock parure and Queen Emma’s sapphire tiara.
Queen Maxima, 53, last wore the Mellerio Ruby Parure Tiara at a state banquet in December when hosting the President of Portugal.
For Tuesday’s event, she looked elegant in a bespoke embroidered gown by Pakistani designer Mahpara Khan, which she first wore to Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa of Jordan’s wedding in 2023.
Her ensemble was completed with the Wurttemberg Ornate Pearl tiara, a five-string pearl necklace and matching earrings.
