Amanda Owen, 50, battles home issue as family plunged into darkness amid ongoing renovations: ‘No power!’

Amanda Owen and her family were faced with another challenge when living in the countryside as the family was plunged into darkness – amid ongoing challenges with their Anty Johns farmhouse.

The Our Farm Next Door star took to her Instagram to share how she and her children adapted to the situation at Ravenseat Farm.

With no electricity available, the mother of nine resorted to traditional methods to keep her family warm and comfortable.

She lit candles for illumination and stoked up the fireplace to provide essential heat during the outage.

Owen shared the update with her 530,000 Instagram followers, posting a photo of her youngest children gathered around the roaring fireplace at Ravenseat.

“No power. No problem,” she simply captioned the image, adding the hashtags #candlelight and #fire.

This isn’t the first time the Owen family has faced such challenges, having experienced a similar blackout in December 2022.

The update delighted Owen’s followers, with many sharing their own experiences of rural power cuts.

One fan reminisced: “Beautiful! Takes me right back to my childhood, being raised by my grandparents in their Cambridgeshire cottage with two ranges and no modern conveniences.”

Another commented: “As a child living in the country power cuts was one of my favourite things.”

“Hope you have power back on now. Nice fire and nice children,” wrote a concerned follower.

Others praised her preparedness, with one noting: “Awesome. We are the same at our house… it’s a nice feeling to be prepared.”

Owen regularly shares glimpses of her family life on social media, recently posting about the “draining” nature of school holidays.

She made light of the situation with a photo of her daughter unblocking a drain outside with a pole.

Earlier, she shared an uplifting message about spring, noting how her children were “absorbed in watching the frogspawn hatch and seeing the tadpoles and froglets”.

She added: “Hopefully nurturing the ability to be resilient and strong without losing any gentleness and wonderment at what we are blessed with.”

The star and her family have also faced numerous challenges with their Anty Johns renovations, including poor weather conditions that slowed progress.

Her ex-husband, Clive Owen, expressed his frustration at times, saying: “It’s going so slowly at the moment. We come back and it’s like, ‘What’s been done? A few more slate (roof tiles)’.”

The couple has continued to co-parent their children despite their split being made public in 2022 and chose to live near one another after their separation, prioritising family stability.
