Virat Kohli throws cap in anger after Dayal-Jitesh collision causes dropped catch

Virat Kohli was spotted throwing his cap in frustration after Yash Dayal and Jitesh Sharma misjudged a high catch opportunity on the second delivery of the 12th over of Mumbai Indians’ innings in their ongoing game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium. The former RCB skipper was visibly agitated at the missed chance.

A wild swipe on a slower delivery by Suryakumar went rocketing into the night sky with Dayal settling under the ball. In the meanwhile, Jitesh made his way from behind the stumps to reach where Dayal was positioned – adjacent to the middle of the pitch. Neither heard each other’s call, ending up with Suryakumar surviving and completing a single.

RCB got their man four deliveries later. An outside off stump delivery which was hung outside the off stump was miscued by Suryakumar to Liam Livingstone. The English batting all-rounder backtracked from wide mid-off to make no mistake in pouching the catch.

Suryakumar’s knock did not entail any sixes. He could only strike 28 runs during his time in the middle. The MI captain was the fourth batter to depart for MI. The home side were 99/4 at the end of 12 overs. The MI vice-captain was Dayal’s second dismissal of the evening.

Earlier in the evening, RCB amassed 221 in their 20-over quota. A couple of 60s from Kohli (67 off 42) and Rajat Patidar (64 off 32) laid the platform for Jitesh to unleash his firepower at the end. The wicketkeeper-batter ended up on unbeaten 40 off 19 deliveries.
