Jesy Nelson shares she is wheelchair-bound in fresh pregnancy update following emergency surgery

Jesy Nelson shares she is wheelchair-bound in fresh pregnancy update following emergency surgery

Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has shared a positive update from hospital, revealing her unborn twins are “still going strong” a week after undergoing successful surgery for twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS).

The 33-year-old singer, who is expecting twins with partner Zion Foster, 26, took to Instagram on Sunday to share the encouraging news with fans.

Nelson remains hospitalised following the emergency procedure last month, with her mobility currently limited to wheelchair outings.

The star had previously revealed she was diagnosed with TTTS, a condition that can pose fatal risks to both babies if not caught early.

In her Instagram Story update, Nelson expressed gratitude for reaching another milestone in her pregnancy journey.

“We just wanted to come on here because we are another week further along and we feel so grateful and blessed that these little babies are still going strong,” she told followers.

The singer took time to acknowledge the support she’s received during this challenging period.

“We just wanted to thank you so much for your wonderful supportive, beautiful messages. You guys have been so lovely. We have seen all your lovely messages and it has really helped keep us going,” Nelson said.

Her partner Zion could be heard cheering in the background as she shared the positive news.

Despite the happy update, Nelson explained she remains under medical supervision with limited mobility.

“I hope you are enjoying the sunshine,” she told fans. “Unfortunately we can’t. Well, we can, Zion takes me out in the wheelchair down the road but that’s as far as we can go.”

The mum-to-be is being closely monitored to ensure she doesn’t go into early labour.

She previously admitted she would remain in hospital until she reaches a “safe” week in her pregnancy.

Throughout her hospital stay, Nelson has been keeping fans updated on social media, with her partner Zion supporting her through the challenging time.

TTTS occurs in 10-15 percent of twin pregnancies where babies share a placenta, according to the NHS.

The condition involves abnormal connecting blood vessels in the twins’ placenta, creating an imbalanced blood flow between the babies.

One twin (the donor) can become underfed, risking malnourishment or organ failure, while the other (the recipient) becomes overfed, potentially causing heart problems.

Nelson experienced alarming symptoms before her surgery, including her belly tightening and difficulty breathing.

If not properly treated, TTTS can sometimes result in the loss of one or both twins, making early intervention crucial.

Nelson revealed in a previous update on March 30 that her surgery had been successful.

“The TTTS has cleared up. The operation was a success which is just absolutely incredible. We are so, so, lucky to have the most amazing doctors,” she told fans.

Despite this positive outcome, the singer explained she “can’t leave hospital” due to her cervix being very short.

This means her waters could potentially break at any time, putting her at risk of premature labour.

The British popstar announced her pregnancy with Foster in January, posting a photo of the couple with his hand placed over her bump.
