IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh was among the prominent members of the Sikh community in the Capital who gathered at Gurdwara Moti Bagh on Thursday for darshan of the holy Jore Sahib — the footwear of Guru Gobind Singh and his wife Mata Sahib Kaur — before their journey to Patna Sahib for permanent enshrinement. The sacred relics, which have been in the custody of Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s family for the last 300 years, were handed over to the Gurdwara authorities on Wednesday. The 1,500-km-long ‘Charan Suhave Guru Charan Yatra’ will cover Faridabad, Agra, Bareilly, Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Sasaram and reach Patna Sahib on November 1.
EPIC Mystery
The Election Commission is all set to announce the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in multiple states, but there is uncertainty over whether the exercise will end with new Electors’ Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) to voters. During Bihar SIR, the EC had announced that new EPICs would be distributed to all registered electors and the state Chief Electoral Officer’s’ office had even floated a tender for the printing of 7.5 crore new cards, but the plan was later dropped. Now, with the poll panel ready to extend the exercise to more states, it is learnt that no decision has been taken on the new Voter IDs yet.
New Address
With the Cabinet Secretariat moving to the new Prime Minister’s Office complex, named Sewa Tirath, earlier this month, the PMO also is expected to soon shift from the South Block. Though Cabinet Secretary T V Somanathan has started working from the new complex, it is yet to be inaugurated. The complex includes offices of the PMO, the National Security Council Secretariat and the Special Protection Group.
