Punjabi singer Teji Kahlon shot in Canada, gangster Rohit Godara’s aides claim responsibility | Chandigarh News

Punjabi singer Teji Kahlon was shot in the stomach in Canada in what appears to be a targeted gang attack, with associates of Indian gangster Rohit Godara claiming responsibility for the incident on social media. The crime has renewed concerns over the growing reach of Indian gang networks operating overseas.

Local authorities confirmed that Kahlon, a Canada-based artist known for tracks such as Mithi Jail and Jhoomar, is recovering from his injuries.

The police have not disclosed the exact location, timing, or circumstances of the shooting, and no arrests have been made so far.

In a Facebook post, three men identified as Mahender Saran Dilana, Rahul Rinau, and Vicky Phalwan — alleged members of the Rohit Godara gang — claimed to have carried out the attack. They accused Kahlon of financially aiding rival factions, supplying them with weapons, and acting as an informant. The post warned that “anyone supporting our enemies will be treated as one” and ended with a chilling note: “This is just the beginning.”

Kahlon, who has a modest following in the Punjabi music diaspora, has not responded publicly to the allegations. His social media accounts show no overt links to criminal elements.

This attack on Kahlon is the latest in a string of incidents linked to Indian-origin gangs operating abroad, underscoring tensions between factions like Godara-Brar and the Bishnoi syndicate. Similar events include the September 2024 firing outside Punjabi singer A P Dhillon’s Vancouver home, also claimed by the Bishnoi-Godara axis (before their split).

Rohit Godara and the gang nexus

Rohit Godara, also known as Rawatram Swami, is a Rajasthan-based gangster wanted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and multiple state police forces for a series of high-profile murders, including those of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala (2022), gangster Raju Thehat (2022), and Karni Sena chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi (2023).

Once aligned with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, Godara later split from the group and is believed to be operating from the United Kingdom. He has since joined hands with Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar, also a former Bishnoi associate now suspected to be in the US. Their rivalry with Bishnoi’s network has spilled across borders, resulting in retaliatory shootings, including a recent attack in California targeting Bishnoi aide Hari “Boxer.”

In India, the Godara gang has been linked to several extortion-related killings, including the October 2025 murder of Ramesh Rulania inside a Rajasthan gym.
