Most wins in international cricket: India equal England at 2nd place with Ahmedabad Test win against West Indies | Cricket News

Most wins in international cricket: India recorded a huge landmark on Saturday in Ahmedabad after clinching the first Test against the West Indies by an innings and 140 runs. With the visitors stumbling to a huge loss, Shubman Gill’s side pushed India’s historic record to a new high with their 184th Test victory, just one short of West Indies’ 185 in the format.

The victory at the Narendra Modi Stadum marked India’s 921st victory in international men’s cricket, putting them alongside England, who featured in the first-ever international contest in 1877, 55 years before India played their first fixture at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London in 1932.

It took India nearly 20 years and 25 matches to win their first Test, in 1952, in Chennai. Last year, India brought their win-loss ratio to 1 (equal wins and losses) for the first time in history. India are also quicker to reach the figure of 921 wins, with England’s record comprising 102 more games than the Asian giants. With a whopping 1157 wins from 2108 appearances across formats, Australia stand on top of the charts.
