Noida dowry case accused, who ‘set wife on fire’, shot at by cops as he tried to escape from custody | Delhi News


The man who was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife by setting her on fire at their Greater Noida residence over dowry demands was shot at by police on Sunday as he tried to escape from custody.

The accused in the case, identified as Vipin, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly setting his wife Nikki on fire. Vipin, his brother Rohit, mother Daya, father Satveer, and his sister have been booked under sections 103(1) (murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The FIR was based on a complaint filed by Nikki’s sister Kanchan, who is married to Rohit, police said. While Kanchan initially took Nikki to Noida’s Fortis Hospital, she was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Police said she died on her way to Safdarjung Hospital on August 21.
