Temba Bavuma’s side had earlier thrashed the hosts by 98 runs to take a 1-0 lead after the first ODI. After setting Australia a stiff 297-run target, South Africa rode on Keshav Maharaj’s five-wicket haul to bundle out Australia for just 198.
For Australia, the biggest concern will be their middle order, which failed them in the first ODI. After a blazing start from opener Travis Head and Mitch Marsh, the middle order that comprises some big names like Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Inglis, Alex Carey, Cameron Green and Aaron Hardie, collapsed against the South African attack. The middle-order will also be in scrutiny after two veterans, Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell, have retired from this format.
